NEUROTEC on the NMWP.NRW-Portal

The NMWP magazine, journal of the NanoMikroWerkstoffePhotonic cluster, has now published a guest article on the NEUROTEC project.

In the field of so-called neuromorphic computing, scientists from Forschungszentrum Jülich, RWTH Aachen University and the Johannes Rau Research Institute AMO are working closely together on a revolution in computer architecture. This innovation of neuromorphic computing in future information processing is necessary because for many artificial intelligence (AI) applications, today's computers are not energy-efficient enough, meaning their computing power per energy used is far from optimal. In particular, they consume too much energy for typical AI tasks such as complex pattern recognition. Novel "neuromorphic" computers, on the other hand, promise significantly improved energy efficiency.
