Focus on Structural Change: Ministers visit Brainergy Park – NEUROTEC presents Neuromorphic Technologies

As part of their research and innovation tour through the Rhenish mining region, Mona Neubaur, Deputy Minister President and Minister for Economic Affairs of North Rhine-Westphalia, and Ina Brandes, NRW Minister for Culture and Science, visited Forschungszentrum Jülich on July 14, 2025. One of their stops was the Brainergy Park Jülich, home of the Helmholtz Cluster HC-H2, where NEUROTEC II was present with its own contribution as part of the region’s structural transformation initiatives.
Project leader Regina Dittmann introduced the ministers to NEUROTEC II in a brief presentation. The project focuses on the development of neuromorphic computer architectures, inspired by the human brain and designed for highly energy-efficient and sustainable applications in artificial intelligence.
Also present were AMOtronics UG, a project partner, and the start-up initiative AiML, which emerged from NEUROTEC. The project contribution was complemented by a live demonstration of AI software capable of recognizing wrist positions using sEMG signals from the forearm.

The ministers expressed great interest in the exhibits and received an in-depth briefing on the current state of research.
